So this replaces the Beetle C abrio and Golf Cabrio? That’s sad but it’s what people will buy I guess.

I have the impression that t h e m a r k e t i n g a r m s o f German firms – and o f German car manufacturers i n p a r t i c u l a r – have f o r a l o n g t i m e h a d an unhealthy obsession with the concept of emotion.

They just mention it everywhere. Which wouldn’t be so terrible if they hadn’t been doing it for something like two decades now.

They insist so much on it that it really must be some sort of compensating mechanism.

Compensating is something they do everywhere. With that new crossover all the press pictures had bright colors to make it look fresh and young. While we all know it will be solely be sold in white/grey/black, and by older people.

The lack of emotional connection is a prime issue with VWs, so the marketing lies emotion it is a good reason to buy a VW. If you tell the same lie often enough people might start to believe it.
